The Central Government, on Tuesday, accepted the Tamil Nadu Government's plea to grant kerosene to fishermen. This move comes as a major step towards the Government's initiative for the betterment of the lives of fishermen.

In breaking news, on Tuesday, the Central Government has accepted the TN government's proposal to grant kerosene to the fishermen of TN coastal areas. The fishermen use boats which mainly run on kerosene and were deeply distressed as they could not get kerosene at all times at normal rates. The news that the Central Government has agreed to allot 3200 KL (kilo liters) of kerosene is of great excitement to the fishermen.

Speaking on the occasion, A.V. Velu, Minister for Food in Tamil Nadu said, "I had met Minister Murali Deora before regarding this proposal and we are happy with the outcome. We are also contemplating the idea of distributing kerosene at subsidized prices."

He thanked Mr. Deora for granting 3200 KL kerosene per month, on behalf of the fishermen.
