The Guindy police have registered
two cases and arrested 10 more persons in connection with the attack
on Checkers Hotel.
Rowdy elements came in 25 auto rickshaws and three Innova cars and
attacked the hotel and gave a life threat to the hotel's executive
director, Vinoj P. Selvam and allegedly caused damages to the hotel
to the tune of Rs. 25 lakhs and took away Rs. 2.6 lakhs from the
hotel lobby.
A senior police official said ten more auto drivers were arrested
on Thursday and their vehicles seized in addition to the five arrested
earlier. The drivers belonged to Thyagaraya Nagar and Kodambakkam,
he claimed.
The police have filed a case against the CEO of a top media baron
under sections 147, 148, 323, 452, 395, 354 (assault or criminal
force to a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty) and 506(2)
of IPC and Section 4 of the Tamil Nadu Women Harassment (Prevention)
Act on the basis of a complaint filed by Sowmithri Dharmasenan of
Velachery Road, Guindy.
