Chief Minister criticized Jayalalithaa on Tuesday saying that she had “no understanding about the federal principle at all” on state autonomy issue.

The CM said his party was the first to coin the slogan Maanilathil suyatchi; mathiyil kootatchi (More powers for the States; true federalism at the Centre), and started gaining the rights of the States ever since 1970 said Karunanidhi in party mouthpiece Murasoli.

Karunanidhi slammed Jayalalithaa saying only after the formation of coalition governments TN has chalked out more welfare schemes. “Jayalalithaa, who was instrumental in the dissolution of the DMK government in 1991 and the Vajpayee government in 1998, cannot understand the very meaning of the State autonomy and federalism” said Karunanidhi.
