A civil engineer was injured and cash and gold was stolen from his apartment in Valasaravakkam on Friday,

It was a horrific Friday for Kalaiselvan, a civil engineer hailing from Valasaravakkam when thieves broke into his house and robbed cash and gold ornaments. Kalaiselvan was staying alone in the apartment on Friday. He had locked all the doors of his apartment in a multi-storey building and went to sleep. It was around 3 AM in the morning when Kalaiselvan heard noises in his house. When he tried to get up, he was hit on his head by a hard object and immediately went unconscious.

Only later did he found out that Rs. 10000 and 20 sovereigns of gold ornaments have been stolen. He immediately registered a complaint at the Valasaravakkam police station. Since he was severely injured, Kalaiselvan has been admitted to a hospital in KK Nagar.

In a similar robbery case, Rs. 12 lakhs was stolen from Mr. Santha Kumar, a businessman from Katpadi, when he was traveling in his car. Though the motive and the identities of the thieves are not known, investigations have been started in full swing on both the cases.
