A day after the All India Congress
Committee President Sonia Gandhi’s announcement that the late Andhra
Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy’s death anniversary
will be remembered on a big scale, Jagan Mohan Reddy the rebellious
Congress Kadappa MP and YSR’s son just came out with a simple ‘note
of thanks’ -- thanking the leadership while daring to ignore Sonia
Gandhi’s plea to drop the idea of his Odarpu Yatra in Prakasam district
which begins on Sept 3.
This was the last opportunity given to Jagan to toe the party line,
said party observers. In fact, a meeting of the disciplinary committee
was slated for Monday but it was deferred as the leadership decided
to wait for Jagan’s response to the AICC decision.
Jagan, who thanked Sonia Gandhi for agreeing to pay compensation,
said it would have been better if compensation was offered to all,
including to those who died of shock in the wake of YSR’s death,
meeting bereaved families and he also wanted MPs, MLAs to participate
in his yatra.
