With all indications that there will be no contest for Congress President's post, Sonia Gandhi is expected to get elected unopposed for a record fourth term.

Though there are rumors that many nominations will be filed by party members, party sources indicate that around 50 nominations will be filed supporting the present leader. Top party leaders including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Pranab Mukherjee and Rahul Gandhi and several union ministers and party chief ministers are expected to file the documents.

It was only because of the strong leadership of Sonia Gandhi that the Congress Party came into power after eight years. It is also under Ms. Gandhi that the Congress has secured power in the center for the second consecutive term. Sonia Gandhi has created a record of having the longest tenure as Congress Chief by staying as the party President for 12 years.

The party has also decided to appoint its working committee members for candidates across the country. Congress party men from Tamil Nadu have already started lobbying in Delhi for various posts for the working committee including appointment of its secretary.
