Former Chief Secretary of Tamil Nadu K.S. Sripathi was sworn in as Tamil Nadu Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) on Wednesday amidst controversy surrounding the appointment.

Three RTI activists gathered in front of the Raj Bhavan even as the Governor Surjit Singh Barnala was just about to administer the oath of office to Sripathi at 11.30 AM.

The men, who were blindfolded with black ribbons, held placards and raised slogans saying 'Save RTI', 'Want transparency in CIC's selection' and 'Non-transparent appointment for upholding transparency?’. The police arrested them as they started raising slogans.
