In a rare incident near Chennai,
an express train full of passengers was stopped by a stray bullock
which was wandering on the track.
Lalbagh Express, bound to Chennai, was on its usual trip coming
from Bangalore. The train which starts its journey from Bangalore
at 6:30 AM was speeding its way towards Chennai when the driver
spotted a buffalo on the track at a distance. Not wanting to hit
the animal, the driver was clever enough to avoid an accident and
possibly a disaster. The driver applied sudden brake which made
the train to stop abruptly.
Just after crossing the Pattabhiram station, the express train came
to a screeching halt just in front of the buffalo touching its horns.
The whole incident looked as if the buffalo stopped the train with
its horns.
Due to this, the train's engine developed a snag and could not be
restarted. Passengers in the train lost their patience and started
moving towards nearby stations to catch suburban trains to take
them to the Central station. Amidst lots of commotion, the engine
failure was finally rectified and the train slowly made its way
to the Central station.
The passengers had to withstand a delay of two hours caused by the
buffalo. |
