The MDMK chief Vaiko has given his full support to the ballot system in the upcoming assembly elections. He also rapped the Kerala Government for taking steps for building a new dam across the Mullai Periyar River.

Vaiko was speaking at a meeting of MDMK party functionaries and supporters in Coimbatore on Tuesday. Finding the current system of using EVMs (Electronic Voting Machines) faulty, Vaiko demanded that the old system (ballot papers) for voting be brought back. Citing the flaws in the EVM machines, he suggested the Central Government to abolish the current system and bring back the centuries-old system of using ballot paper voting system.

Apart from this, Vaiko also condemned the Kerala Government for taking steps to build a new dam across the Mullai Periyar River. He informed that the Kerala Government has planned to demolish the current dam and build a new one in a nearby tiger sanctuary. Warning the Tamil Nadu state Government about repercussions, Vaiko said that there is no point in ruing about the matter once it is complete.

"The Kerala Government feels that the case may be in favor of Tamil Nadu which is why they are hastening proceedings to build a new dam. The danger looms large at us," Vaiko roared.
