England won the second T20 International
match against Pakistan thus winning the two match series 2-0.
After losing the first match to England, Pakistan captain Shahid
Afridi won the toss and chose to bat after a delayed start due to
rain. Pakistan never found their foot as wickets tumbled like nine
pins. England bowlers Bresnan, Broad and Swann teased the Pakistani
batsmen with pace, bounce and spin. Wickets fell at regular intervals
as the Pakistanis capitulated and were bowled out for 89 in under
19 overs. The top scorer for Pakistan was Umar Akmal (17, 13b, 2x6).
England bowlers Sidebottom, Stuart Broad and Graeme Swann took two
wickets each while Tim Bresnan's figures of 3.4-0-10-3 made the
difference.
Batting second, the English batsmen were off to a flying start scoring
24 in two overs when the assault was halted with tight bowling by
Akhtar and company. England was in a state of bother losing three
quick wickets but Eoin Morgan and Michael Yardy made sure there
were no further hiccups. Tim Bresnan was declared the Man of the
Match for his match-winning bowling performance of 3/10 in 4 overs.
The score: Pakistan (89 all out in 18.4 overs. U Akmal 17, Umar
Gul 16, Bresnan 3/10, SJ Broad 2/18) lost to England (90/4 in 14
overs. P Collingwood 21, E Morgan 18*, S Akhtar 1/18, S Ajmal 1/13).
