Federer was in full swing against Soderling and his win against Soderling marked his 13th win in 14 meetings. This is the seventh consecutive time Federer has reached the semifinal of the US open.

In what was a one-sided match, Federer blew away Soderling 6-4, 6-4 and 7-5. Soderling had earlier beaten Federer in the quarterfinals of the French open. Roger will play Novak Djokovic in the semifinals.

In another sweet moment for the Indians, Rohan Bopanna teaming with Pakistan's Aisam Qureshi has reached the final of the men's doubles event. The pair beat Argentine duo of Eduardo Schwank and Horacio Zaballos 7-6, 6-4 in the semifinals on Thursday.

This is the first time the duo has reached the final of a Grand slam. They will play the Bryan brothers of the US who are the most successful doubles team in the history of tennis. Bopanna informed reporters that he would like peace between India and Pakistan. "We would love to play a tennis match on the Indo-Pak border," he said.
