Former World number one, Roger Federer, stormed into the quarter finals of the 2010 US open at Flushing Meadows.

Federer, the second seed, who is playing in a Gram Slam Quarter Final for the 25th time in a row, beat 13th seed Jurgen Melzer of Austria 6-3, 7-6, 6-3 on Tuesday morning (IST). He will now play Robin Soderling, who beat him at the French Open earlier this year.

Federer was clearly the crowd favorite as he smashed winners after winner in a display of authority.
