  US Open: Indian dreams shattered
  Sep 11, 2010 11.40 AM

The Indo- Pak duo of Rohan Bopanna and Aisam Qureshi just fell short of realizing their dream of winning a Grand Slam title when they lost their Championship match to Mike and Bob Bryan of the US in straight sets.

The "Ambassadors of Peace" were just one match away from winning the coveted US Open doubles title but were found looking for ideas in a closely contested final. The pair eventually lost to the Bryan brothers 7-6, 7-6 in a closely contested final. Rohan and Qureshi held all their service games in both the sets but failed to win both the tie-breakers.

Qureshi, in his runner-up acceptance speech told, “Every time we speak about a Pakistani, we are presumed to be from a terrorist country, Pakistanis are friendly people and love fun as much as you guys do,” to a standing ovation from the US crowd.

The Indo-Pak pair was playing in their first Grand Slam doubles final as against the Bryan brothers who have 8 Grand Slam titles to their credit. It still is a great achievement for them as we can expect them to win more in the years to come.
