A father has moved the Madras HC with a petition seeking to produce in the court his daughter, who was allegedly abducted and married by a rowdy element in UT. Notices were ordered to the inspector attached to the Kandamangalam police station, Viji alias Korangu Viji of Villiyanur, Puducherry and the inspector of the All Women Police Station (AWPS) in Periyakadai, Puducherry by the division bench comprising Justice C. Nagappan and Justice P.R. Shivakumar, before whom the habeas corpus writ petition came up for hearing from M. Rajagopal alias Jayakannan of Palli Thennal village in Villupuram district.

Rajagopal said , "Korangu' Viji, a well known rowdy, fell madly in love with his daughter Lokeswari (22), while she was working in the Venkateswara Hospital in Aiyur near Palli Thennal village, in 2009. Lokeswari who was unable to bear the advances and torture of Viji's constant stalking and fearing to take any risk of confronting the rowdy element joined another hospital in Chennai and stayed in the hospital hostel.

Meanwhile Rajagopal had fixed Lokeswari's marriage on September 3, this year in Avadi in Chennai. On learning about this Viji and his henchmen, armed with deadly weapons, barged into his house and forcibly took away Lokeswari on August 23, 2010, leaving Rajagopal shocked.

Following this, Rajagopal lodged a complaint with the Kandamangalam police. Viji the next day took Lokeswari to the All Women Police Station in Periyakadai and told the cops that he had married Lokeswari with her permission.

Rajagopal in his petition said that the AWPS inspector forcibly obtained a letter from Lokeswari to the effect that she had willingly married Viji. The inspector also expressed her inability to interfere in the matter. Rajagopal alleged that his daughter had been forcibly abducted and married by Viji and was being tortured.
