The concept of creating a digital twin has become the latest craze among young people across the world and now it has been slowly catching up in India over the past year and a half with youngsters wanting a “second self” to represent them in the virtual world.

’’More than 12,000 people have created digital avatars since July 2000 called ‘Nuume’, particularly in European countries”. Nuume created his digital twin three years ago.

Mr. Hubmann was in the city to take part in international knowledge carnival graVITas’ 10 organized by VIT University.

The Spanish based Nuume has become the source for one’s second- self in the virtual world. “One can upload a photograph and some basic details like their height, weight and ethnicity on www.nuume.com, and users can create a photo-realistic avatar in a widget, in a simple and quick process. Then the users can connect it to the to their social network sites such as Face book and Twitter. Through this, they create virtual nearness with their loved ones”.
